What is Early Intervention?
All children develop at their own pace, but some children can experience delays. This is where early intervention comes in! These services and coaching supports for children from birth through age five are designed to build upon the natural learning that occurs in those critical first few years. Services provided to children and their families are individualized based upon the needs and strengths of each child and the priorities of the child's family. For more information about early intervention please refer to the Department of Education's website.
How do I get early intervention services for my child?
Your child may have a delay, but that does not mean they can't take big developmental leaps! Little Leaps offers early intervention services for children ages birth to three. The first step if you have concerns, is to contact CONNECT services at 1-800-692-7288. The CONNECT Helpline staff will refer you to the appropriate local early intervention agency to determine if your child is eligible. Once a child is evaluated and qualified for services, your family has provider choice. This means you can request Little Leaps to provide your services.
How do I know if my child has a developmental delay?
Children achieve important milestones in their play, learning, communication, behavior, and movement. With children developing at their own pace, it can be tricky to determine if they are experiencing a delay in any of these areas that requires intervention. The CDC has tools and resources to support you. Please see their website for more information, and if you have concerns, consult your pediatrician.
Do you accept insurance?
Insurance is not required! There is no cost to families for early intervention services in Pennsylvania. Therapy services are funded by the State for those that qualify.
Where are services provided?
We come to you! Services are offered in your child’s natural environment — usually your home, daycare, or community setting. Receiving services in familiar contexts increases their opportunities for engagement, independence, and participation with your family and friends. You have the greatest influence on what and how your child learns as your child’s first teachers. Early intervention should not complicate your family’s life; it should complement your family’s life as it supports you and your child.
Do we have to be new to early intervention to receive services through Little Leaps Therapy?
We would be happy to provide services for you whether your family is new to early intervention or seasoned vets! With provider choice, you are in the driver's seat and can request a change at any time.
Do you provide any services other than physical therapy?
We are currently in the process of hiring occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, and special instructors. If you are interested in joining our team, we encourage you to send your resume to littleleapstherapyllc@gmail.com.
